NECROSIS

George Stults Life-Cast

Well, we had another day of life-catsing for Necrosis. This time our victim was George Stults who plays Matt. Greg Mcdougall, our special effects supervisor and his assistant, Daniela had George strip down, put on a pair of spandex shorts, which he hadn't worn since the 80's...... no, not really, it was last week.

George told us that he had never had a life-cast done before. I guess 7th Heaven isn't as violent as I remember it.....

Enjoy the pictures. We will have a lot more info at our official Necrosis movie web site - www.NecrosisMovie.com

Also stop by the IMDB for movie updates. Just search for Necrosis and you'll find out info there as well...

------------------------

It's hard to believe that 2008 is here and that we head to Tahoe in a mere 18 days to begin our location filming.

Some other things we've been doing are:

This past weekend we built our only "SET" for the film, which is the interior of our location's "Generator Shed". Our location really does run on a generator, so, due to sound problems and general lack of space, we built the interior as a 3 wall set inside of Frank Torpey's motorcycle warehouse. I'm sure George will be very happy that he doesn't have to go shirtless in 12 degree weather for his make-shift "surgery" scene.

Speaking of George's surgery..... we will be life-casting George for that scene later this week...another detail we've been working on.

We have our fake snow for the bar scene and the generator shed scene. These are two scenes that will be filmed local and not up in "snow level" so we have to bring in our own snow. I have enough snow manufacturing "powder" to make 500 gallons of snow. That will be enough to film Seymour's death close-ups with Michael Berryman in a 20 X 20 square foot area, another effect scene that will be filmed local. (1 shot of it anyways!).

All of the costumes have been picked out or purchased and well be in our possession this week.

The props have been built or purchased and are semi-neatly stored in my garage right now awaiting the arrival of our support trailer, which well be here next weekend.

Thats it for now.

Thanks for following along on this BLOG.

Tiffany

Unknown Productions is happy to announce that Tiffany has been cast as KAREN in Necrosis. Tiffany is an international pop star from the 1980's who has recently been back in the spotlight with a new CD and appearances on various TV shows. Tiffany, famous for her self titled album in 1987 with hit single "I Think were alone now", well portray KAREN in her first starring feature film role.

Robert and I, met with Tiffany and her husband and discussed the project with them. Tiffany, with a kind and light-hearted personality, expressed her interest in becoming part of our film's "family". Tiffany has been participating in acting lessons most of her life. Tiffany told us that when she was young she was in acting and singing lessons and because of finances, her Mom had her choose acting or singing. Tiffany said that singing came very naturally to her and she chose that to pursue. Tiffany would like to expand upon her talents and act. We feel very lucky that Tiffany submitted for a role in Necrosis and welcome her aboard. With her stage presence, comfort perfoming to millions of fans, and natural abilities to entertain, I have no doubt that Tiffany well be a pleasure to work with on this project.

Below is a bio on Tiffany:

Pasted Graphic 13

Pop icon, Tiffany, has again been stirring things up. The “I Think We’re Alone Now” Girl is currently at number 21 on Billboard’s top 100 Club Play Charts with her dance hit Higher… her first time on a Billboard chart in 18 years. This year, Tiffany marked the 20th anniversary of her chart-topping debut with a new album, “Just Me,” released on 10 Spot Records and was recently seen on VH1’s hit series Celebrity Fit Club, where she lost an astonishing 30 pounds.

Tiffany began her career at the age of 13 when she signed her first recording contract with MCA. The self-titled debut album was released in 1987 and eventually went quadruple platinum. The innovative “Mall Tour” that followed proved to be the signature for Tiffany’s early career and was very effective in targeting her core audience of young teens making Tiffany the youngest female artist to debut at number one on the Billboard charts. Tiffany produced three top ten hits, two of which were national and international #1 pop singles “Could’ve Been” and the celebrated “I Think We’re Alone Now.” The soon-to-be teen pop phenomenon, New Kids on the Block, got their big break as the opening act for her world tour. Tiffany released her second album, Hold An Old Friend’s Hand, which went double platinum and featured the top ten hit “All This Time.” In addition to her ground breaking successful music career, Tiffany had the opportunity to be the voice of Judy Jetson in the feature version of the popular cartoon series, The Jetsons.

During the ‘90s, Tiffany released two more albums, New Inside and Dreams Never Die (released exclusively in Asia). To start off the new Millennium, she introduced what became known as her “comeback” album, The Color of Silence with stellar critical reviews including from Billboard: “The Color of Silence is one of the finest pop albums of 2000.” In 2005 she independently released the club sensation, Dust Off and Dance.

Tiffany makes her home in Los Angeles with her husband of three years, her son Elijah, three dogs, two turtles and five fish. She also enjoys cooking and preparing fine cuisine for her friends and family. When she’s not busy with her rigorous workout routine, she’s a self-admitted designer shopaholic.

George Stults

We are glad to announce that we have cast GEORGE STULTS, star of the Television series 7th Heaven and Feature Films, Night Skies and Hydra, in NECROSIS. George well be portraying Matt in the film, the romantic interest of Megan and lead role in the film. George is no stranger to the cold, growing up in Colorado, which has been a helpful deciding point when it comes to casting this film. Robert and I met George a ways back and he showed a great interest in the role of Matt. George had the exact look that we had envisioned for the role, in addition to years of acting experience, we knew that we couldn't go wrong with him as Matt! George is a very down-to-earth guy and despite being a lead on a hit show for many years, we felt that he would gel effortlessly in our indie film production. Knowing our limited budget, George told us that before he even met with us that he told his agent make this happen. That is great to hear from someone that gets scripts on a regular basis!
We are very happy with our latest addition to NECROSIS!
Below is George's BIO:
One of People magazine’s “Hottest Bachelors” George Stults, whose drop-dead gorgeous looks and undeniable sex appeal resemble a young Brad Pitt. Stults took millions of TV viewers by storm through his starring role as “Kevin Kinkirk” on the WB’s series “7th Heaven.” Stults recently stared in HYDRA, a Sci-fi Channel original movie about a group of wealthy adventurers who are paid $5 million to go on a hunt for human prey, where he plays ‘David Nolan,’ the ruggedly handsome, courageous, level-headed Army Ranger whose testimony against his platoon leader, ‘Captain Sweet, finds himself part of the prey for a bizarre millionaire’s manhunt. He starred in the Lifetime Original Movie FOUR opposite Cheryl Ladd (“Las Vegas”) and Laura (“24”), a story about a man determined to take care of the women in his life who fall prey to breast cancer. Stults just filmed the independent film NIGHT SKIES co starring Jason Connery (“Robin Hood”), and A.J. Cook (“The Virgin Suicides” directed by Sofia Coppola). In the film, adapted from an actual event, took place during the infamous 1997 “Phoenix Lights” sightings. Stults was also featured in the Spring 2005 Abercrombie and Fitch catalog as the newest “Rising Star” celebrity model. Not only was he the latest model featured in a worldwide campaign for Liz Claiborne’s fragrance “Bora Bora,” he starred in “K-Mart’s Back to School ads,” which were seen all over the country on TV and in magazines.
George, born in Detroit to a very close-knit family, spent his childhood splitting his time between family homes in both Michigan and Colorado Springs, Colorado. His mother runs a special education high school in Colorado for underprivileged children, while his father owns and operates his own small appliance repair business in Detroit. George grew up with one sibling, his brother Geoff, a fellow actor, who, it just so happens, played his brother “Ben” on “7th Heaven.”
“I am very fortunate to have such a cool family. My mother is like Superwoman. She not only is the program director of an alternative high school for emotionally disturbed teens, but she raised my brother and I as well. After working 29 years with hundreds of kids with real problems, she couldn’t exactly screw up with us,” he jokes modestly.
It was in high school that George got involved with drama and acting classes. “I tried out for Hello Dolly because all the hot girls were already cast in the play. I figured that was the easiest way to meet them all,” the young actor recalls. After a small role in Dolly, George spread his wings and went on to do West Side Story. In addition to performing on stage, George also performed in the ring as a wrestler, a sport he got involved with as a young kid. “I was so into wrestling that I not only competed throughout high school traveling the country, but I also wrestled at the University of Southern Colorado. Basically I toured around the country getting my butt kicked,” he recalls. “I really wanted to join the Navy and become a SEAL, but my parents insisted that I go to college and finish it.” Although he was the number three wrestler in the state and was already halfway through his degree in Kinesiology, George decided to transfer to Whittier College for his final year to be closer to his brother Geoff.
Shortly after moving to California, George was “discovered” while eating lunch with friends on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. A theatrical agent was driving past the restaurant and was so struck by George that she stopped the car in the middle of the street and jumped out to give him her business card. She insisted that George call her the very next morning, which he did --- and the rest, they say, is history.
Armed with his first agent, George began attending acting classes and auditions. With his natural acting chops and matinee idol looks, George was soon appearing in such high-profile TV shows as “Will & Grace,” in which he played Jack’s (Sean Hayes) closet-case boyfriend. In addition to his roles on “Spin City” and “Will & Grace,” George appeared as Susan Sarandon’s soap opera co-star on a special episode of America’s most popular TV show, “Friends.” He also starred as “Tyler” in the independent film WHAT LIES ABOVE, where he plays a rock climber opposite Nicole Eggert which aired on Lifetime Television
George’s charisma, dynamic personality and classic good looks brought him to the attention of “7th Heaven” producers, who created a role especially for Stults. With his many talents and promising future, George Stults is well on his way to stardom and will be the one to watch as he ascends in the elite ranks of young, hot Hollywood. Not only did Lucy Camden of “7th Heaven” fall for George, but so have girls and women all across America and now…the world!

Costumes and Props

Well, armed with some of the actor's sizes, an assistant and I ventured out and started purchasing and renting costumes. In 1999, I shot a really small horror film. Now, even though it was small (budget wise) I wanted to do as many things as I financially could to make it look better. One of the things I did, was open a costume account with Universal Pictures at Universal Studios in Hollywood. Back then, in pre 9/11 times, anyone could walk right in, fill out an application show them a student I.D. (for a student account) or a business license or proof of Corporation (as I did) and start picking out costumes from 800,000 square feet of musty clothes (yes they are musty!). With a deposit and a business check, you can rent for the weeks or months that you may need the clothes/costumes/uniforms or whatever.
It was nice to have a pre-existing account with them when I went in this time. I was stopped, searched, my I.D. was checked and a phone call was made to the costume department t confirm "Jason" from "Unknown Productions" was allowed on-site. Then I was issued a vehicle pass and was given directions and told where to park. All this for some ski outfits and period pieces for my flashback scenes.......not to mention, that a lot of my stuff I needed to purchase, because I have to rip it and cover it in fake blood.
So, here I sit now...... I have 6 garment bags with tags - JERRY, MICHAEL, MATT, MEGAN, SAMANTHA, and KAREN..... and we are starting to piece together some of the costumes for Necrosis. Two months away and it is starting to feel like we are making a movie... That and I sent off a bunch more flipping deposit checks today.....okay they go out tomorrow, today was a Holiday.
Well, it's 9:00 PM on a Monday.....time to take an hour break to watch HEROES! I gotta support my cast (James Kyson Lee - who plays 'Ando') and their other endeavors!

AFM

For those of you who don't know what the AFM is, let me give you a brief "Jason's Synopsis" of what this oddity of movie events is.....
Every year, around this time, in beautiful Santa Monica, California, miles from downtown tinsel town, is the SWAP MEET of Hollywood (and other) movies. A nice, waterfront hotel called the Loews holds a swap meet of films known as the American Film Market (AFM). Each room in the hotel is rented out for the week+ long event by distributors, sales reps, studios, etc for the purpose of selling films to various international locales for theatrical, video, and cable distribution.
You walk into a room see a "1-sheet" (a mini movie poster) and a trailer for a film. Then you walk into another partitioned section of the hotel room and you negotiate then buy the film rights for your Country. Some of the films at the AFM have screenings at theaters nearby or at screening rooms set up at the hotel. But a lot of buyers purchase the films on the site of a trailer and 1-sheet. The contracts are signed right there in the room.
Now these deals range from 1,000.00 for a small territory to millions of dollars (I know they can be as low as 1K because one of my early indie films (now this was 10 years ago) sold to a Panama Cable TV station for 1K as part of a huge multi-film packaged deal.). Luckily that wasn't my only sale!
As a film maker, If you want to spend 775.00 for full access to the market you can really learn a lot. Or you can pay 250.00 for some access for 1 day. Don't plan on talking to a whole lot of the big studios without meetings and you will be told the there are not "acquisitions" people present, but when they have some time you may get a chance to bend an ear or two. Because you really don't get a lot of opportunities to pitch a film for distribution by a company, I'd recommend a one day pass just to get a real sense of what you NEED to take a film to market. You can talk to people and ask a lot of questions. Start with a smaller company that doesn't have a line out the door and ask them what they require of a producer to take a film foreign...... you need to know all this to prepare. I'll answer any questions I can for any budding film maker out there. Just shoot me an email and I'll do my best to give you answers, advice, etc.
Be prepared with answers and head them off by telling them you have this already! - They want - Errors and Omissions insurance, "M and E" audio tracks, location releases, logo releases, nudity riders, crew agreements, 100's of high quality digital stills, multiple 1-sheets and posters, behind the scenes footage with separate releases from the cast and crew, music releases, composer release, dialogue script, and a horny virgin!
But all in all the AFM is an interesting thing to watch for an hour or two.
Now I was lucky...... first off I had a full access guest pass from New Line Cinema. I do think for some reason (hmmm I wonder) that having a NEW LINE CINEMA pass hanging around my neck may have helped me get in to talk to a few people..... but I'll ultimately chalk it up to my quick wit and keen business sense.
Plus, I did have a couple of pre-arranged meetings, after I was given a recommendation by a huge player from New Line, and those went very well. Necrosis pitched great and everyone liked the Donner Party tie-in to a horror movie. I got great response on the name of the film and had some great feedback and interest to see more when production is under way!
I also have to have a NECROSIS rough-cut and trailer by CANNES..... I said I would, no problem.

James Kyson Lee

Unknown Productions in very happy to announce that we have cast James Kyson Lee as "Jerry" in Necrosis. Robert and I met James for lunch (see Blog - 9/4/07) awhile back and talked with him about our production. We were very excited that he really took to our script and was himself, excited about the role of Jerry....... he expressed interest in the role and I told him that I'd love to have him take on the role....... Great right! He wants to do it, we want him to do it.... but wait..... he's in contract with NBC. Well, maybe we can work it out. That takes more time than I thought..... but we worked on it.... with the help of his agents and manager, etc, etc, etc. Finally I just called NBC and told them that James was doing the film and that was that. They snapped back with - "what if we don't let him?" I said that I had a little ace up my sleeve and they didn't want to mess with Unknown Productions.....well they pushed and I pushed back..... hence the impending writer's strike that I called for. Now we got him.... see how that works! Okay, I'm just kidding here.... so I bowed down to NBC, promised (via contract) that if principle photography was needed for "ANDO" on Heroes during our production, we'd get him back to L.A. and so on and so on.

Despite coming from a studio backed hit NBC show, James is a dream for independents to work with! He wants to do a great job. He wants to help everyone else do a great job too! He is a team player in every aspect of the production and understands the complexities of an indie shoot compared to a financial giant like NBC. He has rapidly gained a wealth of on-screen experience and leaves me with a great sense of comfort, knowing that I can call on his acting experience to get the performance the Jerry role demands. With such a small cast on Necrosis, it is going to be a pleasure to work with experienced actors with great range.

Below is James' BIO - Please take a moment to read about him and check out his personal web site and support his role on Heroes.

------------------------------------------------------------

James Kyson Lee plays “Ando Masahashi” on NBC's critically acclaimed hit drama HEROES. His character begins his journey from Japan to the states as a realist, but is transformed into a believer when he encounters supernatural events that lead him to take part in a mission to save the world. This scenario oddly parallels the path to success James has traveled in his real life.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, James Kyson Lee moved with his family to New York City at the age of 10. He graduated from Bronx High School of Science and continued his education at Boston University and New England Institute of the Arts where he studied communications. It was in New England where Lee also enrolled in music, dance, and improvisation courses. Inspired by his newly discovered passion for performing, James sold his used car for $1800 in the summer of 2001 and purchased a one-way ticket to Los Angeles in hopes of building a respectable career in the entertainment industry. Lee began training as a jazz singer, and eventually made the transition from music to acting. At his first small screen audition, he landed a guest-starring role on CBS' "J.A.G.", and has since appeared on NBC's "Las Vegas", "The West Wing", "Heist", as well as ABC's "Threat Matrix", and FOX's "All About the Andersons".
In addition to "Heroes," James will star in four feature films in 2008, including the highly anticipated SHUTTER, DO OVER and SLEEPING ROOM ONLY, directed by David Boyle, and of course, NECROSIS!
A student of improvisation & sketch comedy at The Groundlings and I.O. West, James also enjoys playing basketball and the piano, as well as reading and watching documentaries.
James has his own website with tons of great information on this very talented performer.

Another lunch

Robert and I met with another actor from a hit TV show.... although this show just ended, our possible MATT - was a series lead for many years. After a great meeting, we called the appropriate agents, managers, attorney, etc and a contract is out there. We have met other possible Matt's, but Robert and I really had a great feeling that this guy could really do the job exactly like we pictured it. Sometimes it's hard to mix indie's with star talent, sometimes it's easy. This time it seemed too easy. It also feels great (as a writer) when a very talented actor tells you that he already told his agent to "make this happen" despite a non-studio backed independent film.....filmed in the freezing cold, isolated (and haunted by cannibals from the 1800s) cabin in Lake Tahoe, with pay that I'm sure he isn't accustomed to. Okay it's not going to be that bad..... but we have been telling everyone that it is, so we scare away the timid.
When we receive our contract back (signed of course), we will disclose our next Necrosis actor!
Thanks for checking in!

Auditions and D.P.

On Sunday we held some more of the auditions. We had a minor set-back but we pressed on and still made some great headway on NECROSIS. The script is now in the hands of several actors and actresses from some great film and television shows. Even for the low-end SAG scale pay that we are able to offer, we have had very positive feedback and response. We have signed our Director of Photography, Deanna Esmaeel, who has extensive credits in film and television, as Director of Photography, Film and HD camera operation, D.I. work, editing and her own productions. She met with a good portion of our production team and we all felt that she well add significantly to the look and feel of NECROSIS. With a bunch of guys on the set of a horror film it's nice to get a woman's touch.......Deanna told us it's her favorite genre!

Some updates

We are calling back several actresses for the role of SAMANTHA. The ladies well be reading with their film counterpart JERRY. We have also called in some fresh faces and a few actors for the MATT and MEGAN roles as well. We have a few actresses we will be calling back for MEGAN already, however, we'd like to see a few more.

The first of the storyboards should be up online at the NECROSISMOVIE.com website very soon......like maybe tomorrow! These aren't your typical storyboards, but detailed, large format drawings by none other than comic book artist, Robert Michael Ryan...... now how'd we get that...... He wrote the movie with me, thats how. Storyboards for free! Thats how were getting it done here. Actually, Robert, who has already been a published "graphic novel" comic book artist, has thought about dabbling in the storyboard art world. After you get a chance to see the storyboards, let him know what you think of his work.

More updates are coming soon.

Vegas for Necrosis???

Robert and I went to Vegas for the weekend...... yes it was a business trip, fully tax deductible, and yes it was for NECROSIS. We met with co-producers, Robert and Christine Reynoso, for contract signing, to discuss the project...... and for a great meal, a little music, and a little Blackjack!

After a wonderful steak dinner at the "Foundation Room" inside Mandalay Bay's House of Blues, we were able to sit quietly in our private room there and discuss the project. Robert and Christine, because of their distance from the L.A. area get very little face time to talk about the project. This was a perfect opportunity to relax and unwind from the stresses of pre-production.

After the Foundation Room, we left for a little night life at the "PLAYBOY CLUB." A friend of mine, is president of the Asian Police Officer's Association and he made a call for me and got us free all access passes to the night club. It's nice to act like a high-roller once in awhile.

Well, it's Monday and it's back to work on Necrosis pre-production.

We are holding call-back auditions on Sunday, with one of the lead actors helping out.

More updates are coming........
|

Call Backs

Actresses that were selected for call backs were notified today. We have not scheduled a 2nd audition due to the fact that we are waiting on some of the actors (their agents) that we have contacted and offered roles to. That way a read can be done with their actual counter-parts and we will get a better idea of who well have the chemistry we are looking for.
|

AUDITIONS, Round 2

We have a little over twenty actors coming in to read for some of the main roles. With this set and some call backs from the last audition, I think we should have some great actors cast!

Special Effects Artist Hired!

I met with GREG McDOUGALL and hired him as our Special Effects Supervisor for NECROSIS.

A brief Bio on Greg:

Greg McDougall started his makeup and effects career on the east coast in the mid 90's, lending his skills to theatrical shows and live presentations such as The Cleveland Opera and the Six Flags Batman Stunt Show. In 1998, Greg also acquired his first feature film credit as Production Designer and Key Effects Artist for the independent sci-fi film, Clone.

After a two-year stint as a makeup instructor at Tom Savini’s School of Makeup Effects in Pennsylvania, Greg moved out to Los Angeles in 2003. Since relocating, Greg has worked on a number of big budget studio films such as
War of the Worlds, The Chronicles of Narnia, Doom, and Disney’s Eight Below.

In 2005, Greg formed Cerberus Creations with partner, Cari Finken. For the fledgling company’s first official assignment, Greg and his highly skilled team of artists tackled the ambitious effects for
Creepshow 3. Recently, Greg has been busy creating a slew of creatures and makeup effects for the upcoming independent films, Spike and The Blackout.

In his spare time, Greg teaches makeup classes and enjoys writing scripts and developing projects for his company.

Lunch with an actor

We had lunch with an actor today for the role of Jerry. We are very excited that we may get to work with a very talented actor from "Heroes." We won't disclose his name at this time. He has done several Indie films and would be great to have on board. Even with the limitations of our budget, he expressed excitement in the project and his portraying JERRY, the character with the most range and challenges for an actor.

Hopefully we get a positive response from agents/managers and are eventually able to post who we are casting as JERRY in NECROSIS.

SCRIPT UPDATES

Yes, we are still completing minor revisions on the screenplay. We try and add elements or dialogue to further tighten up loose ends or add a little to characters. A never ending process.
|

Pay Roll by PAYREEL.com

Signed on with PayReel.com to handle our SAG employee payroll. If you've never made a low budget film, theres so much to do, that you don't think of whne you watch a film. But having everyone do a little extra work is where we save our budget and give every extra penny to making the actual film better.
|

Special Effects

We have had an awesome response with Special Effects artists wanting to join our team. I have at least 20 potential canidates (out of almost 100 that applied) to contact and interview!
|

SCRIPT UPDATE

Our screenplay has been upated and tightened even more. We are very pleased with the script and everything is falling into order perfectly. I am still watching DP reels and looking for SPX people.
|

Director of Photography and Special Effects

We received over 200 submissions for these 2 CREW positions! I have been watching Reels, reading, and looking at horror effects make-up all night. It's a tedious process, narrowing down the talent to people that we'd like to interview for this project.

I have DP'd on several projects and through my production company, I usually am the one operating the camera. But Directing a feature (and producing it) takes way too much effort. I can't step out from behind the camera constantly to give direction.

Since I will more than likely also be the guy that edits the film, I know what shots I am going to NEED to get the project made. Then theres the shots I WANT to get.

I'm looking at camera movement.....not BORN IDENTITY style, but lots of dollies, steadicam, jib, etc. I like to keep the camera moving..... it paces a film a little faster.

We are planning on storyboarding most of the action/horror scenes in the film. Hopefully, we are able to relate my vision to the DP and the SFX guys what we are after. This well be a 16-18 day shoot. So quick set-ups and a well thought out shooting schedule are a must. Then we hope we get those shots that make the trailer!

Should be a tough choice to make, I have some talented people applying.

POSTED LEAD ROLES

We posted some of the lead roles in the BREAKDOWNS today. Already we are receiving THOUSANDS of submissions!

Here are the roles we posted:

MATT:

Mid 20s to early 30s. Any ethnicity. A man who has enviable good looks, but with the demeanor of one who doesn't flaunt it or even acknowledge it. More shy and low-key than expected, he finds himself drawn to Megan, the other "5th wheel" on this trip. As the situation in the cabin turns to horror, they are drawn together, not only because of an attraction, but a desperate need for survival. LEAD. SEEKING RECOGNIZABLE / STAR NAMES. RATE NEGOTIABLE.

MEGAN:

Mid 20s to early 30s. Any ethnicity. Beautiful and sexy, but more comfortable in sweatpants and a baseball cap. A tom-boy at heart, she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty and her hair messed up. She finds herself attracted to Matt, but unimpressed with his weak attempts at flirting. She enjoys playing with him good-naturedly, making him work harder at impressing her. When the storm hits and traps them, she begins to reveal vulnerability, opening up to Matt as they struggle to save themselves. When the situation in the cabin goes from bad to worse, she steps up to the plate and takes on the mentally-unstable Jerry and ultimately saves the day. LEAD. SEEKING RECOGNIZABLE / STAR NAME. RATE NEGOTIABLE.

JERRY:

Mid 20s to early 30s. Any ethnicity. A quirky, odd guy with serious manic-depressive issues. Not really fitting in with the group, and not wanting to be on this trip, he begrudgingly goes through to motions and puts on his best smile for the sake of his girlfriend, Samantha. As the storm intensifies, and their situation grows more desperate, Jerry finds that the "entity" tormenting the group seems to be singling him out, driving his already delicate mental stability to the brink, until he loses all sense of reality and turns into a shotgun-wielding madman hell-bent on a path of death and destruction. LEAD. SEEKING RECOGNIZABLE / STAR NAMES. RATE NEGOTIABLE.

Necrosis Screenplay

Ever seen a movie.....action or horror or whatever that was shot on a lower budget.....but the filmmakers tried to put elements in that the studio pictures put in and couldn't quite pull it off....hell couldn't pull it off AT ALL??? Well, we didn't want to make those mistakes. So we backed off. Writers really don't like to limit their creativity by constantly thinking of cost while putting pen to paper. But thats really what you gotta do. So we did it.

After a couple of drafts, we got professional script coverage at Newline Cinema. OUCH! The readers there really don't hold back. My brother, who works for Newline and writes, tells me the readers are really writers that just didn't make it. So everything they read they are pretty bitter about it, thinking about their own unsuccessful attempts at the Big Time.

Armed with our coverage, which pointed out several flaws, story problems, a lack of character development, etc....... we started our re-writes. And then we rewrote it again and again. Trying to add to the story without adding to the budget. We worked on our characters, developed some back stories, worked on character arches......and then we gave it to more readers and did it again.

I'd guess we have done in the neighborhood of 20 major rewrites and hundreds of simple fixes to the script. We still change it to this day and well probably change it on location, while filming.

We had to (well didn't HAVE to) change the name of the film, when we went to register it to start production. We hold copyrights and WGA registration as DEAD OF WINTER, but another film went into production with the same title 2 weeks before we did ours!

We just couldn't have two films coming out at the same time with the same name!

So we started racking our brains on a title.

When I asked a medical professional what the name of the dead tissue caused by frost bite was, she told me there wasn't really a "name" for it but said it's NECROTIC..... or "Dead Tissue". We liked the sound of that.......Necrotic......but it was a little too close to EROTIC...... and it's not that kind of flick. We did the variations and there it was born.....NECROSIS.

Now for those of you that don't know. Necrotic tissue can be caused by many things....not just frost bite. Some of the other causes are poisons, like the bite from a Brown Recluse Spider, lack of blood to a limb from a traumatic injury, etc. But we'll stick with the frost bite version.......because thats what's going on in NECROSIS!

So thats a little bit about how our screenplay developed.
